Empties (Jul, Aug & Sep)

I've been a bad, bad blogger for the past few months. In my defence, there has been huge changes regarding my personal life and well... I've been cheating beauty blogs a lot with fitness and training blogs! It's really not that I've lost interest towards beauty and makeup, I just haven't had the time to concentrate equally as much to all my hobbies. Really it's just more of a question of time-management, isn't it? ;) Now that other aspects in my life have started to sort out, I will squeeze blogging back to schedule!

IMG_3056

There's a lot catching up to do with the empties! Here are (or at least should be) all the empties from July, August and September. I've really lost my touch, haven't I... I used to empty this many product in ONE month!

IMG_3060
Project Pan
Redken All Soft Soft Ends Leave-In Treatment
Nivea Intense Repair Comb-In Cream

I got the Redken's treatment from my sister a long time ago. It's taken me ages to finish, and it really is not because I didn't love it; just the opposite! I actually saved the last few drops for months. This has a great rep, and no wonder.

I bought the Nivea's treatment also a while ago, when my hair was just getting longer, tangled and needing my attention. I thought this might help, but I do think there are better options out there. I started to detest the smell at some point, but it's very Nivea-like. It's not a bad product, but I wouldn't buy it again either.

IMG_3063
Herbina Marja Spa Moisturizing Balsam Project Pan
athena's Latte di Cocco Coconut Milk Shower Milk
Dermosil Winter Body Lotion

Obviously the Herbina Marja Spa conditioner smells lovely, but that's about it. I mostly used it for co-washes, but I think the XZ-conditioners are better for that. Nothing really special about this product, doesn't really do anything for my hair. I also hate hate hate these packages! It's the same one as with the Herbina Marja Spa Body Lotion. It is almost impossible to squeeze out the stuff after less than a half is used, the bottle just gets flat in the middle and all the product is left at the bottom. I'd understand this if it was almost empty and it's easy to just cut the bottle open to get the rest, but this is just silly when most of the product is still left.

I really loved Latte di Cocco shower milk, I think I've raved about it before. I love coconut scent and this is my favourite shower milk. I'm more in to soap bars (this line has that also) now, but I'd buy this again for travelling.

I got the Dermosil Winter Body Lotion as a gift from my mom, I think it was christmas 2010. I however didn't start using it until last winter. It was a nice, basic lotion, but I wasn't too keen with the scent. A hint of citrus, I think, with a very basic Nivea-like base. I did love the fact that it was a pump bottle! I wish all my lotions came with one. About the name, the label claims "includes essential oils and ingredients, that have slightly warming effect". Well, I didn't feel this effect at all. Like I said; nice, basic lotion anyhow.

IMG_3065
Everyday Minerals Semi Matte Base (fairly light neutral) sample size
bareMinerals Original Spf 15 Foundation (fair C10)

Nothing really to add here. I love Everyday Minerals, talk about quality for money. I also loved the bareMinerals, but I really wouldn't invest my money on it (again) since I can get just as good stuff for less. The bM-foundation I finished actually probably already earlier at summer, but I forgot since it still wonders around my vanity desk; I like to still use the lid for my other minerals :)

IMG_2748

During these months I also used up four sheet masks by acaci: seaweed, aloe vera, green tea and cucumber. I really liked all the masks and they're pretty cheap. I felt they gave an instant radiant boost to my skin. My favourite was aloe vera, the scent was really lovely.

IMG_2776

I also managed to kick a bad habit! Here is one of the many boxes that could be found in my closet. I've had an obsession of stashing up the cardboard packages of all my cosmetics! How silly is that? It's impractical to not take them off and still for some reason I haven't been able to throw them completely away. Well, now I did it. I was having a hard time fitting my clothes to the closet anymore... Does anyone else have the obsession of saving packages?

Orange Yet Again

Oh how I miss the sun. Greetings from the rainy eastern Finland, today was the first day in over a week I saw a glimpse of sun. And then came thunder...

IN TOTAL 17/51

Umm... In my defence, there's a lot of makeup and we all know how hard it is to get them used. And I'm actually doing pretty good, I have a lot of almost empty-products in my stash. And when it comes to mascaras and foundations (not doing very good with the liquid foundations since I use mineral powders at summer), I will have to throw them away soon enough anyway since they will dry up and/or go bad.

I'm doing better than I thought with the blushes, after spring (I sadly put aside my beloved Crystal Pink by MAC) I've only used the ones in my Project Pan. The Bronzed by ELF looks way too dirty on my skintone, but then I figured it's a lovely color as an eyeshadow instead!

From what I've learned the hard way during this project: I will never again buy (or at least open...;) more than a few mascaras, foundations etc. easily gone bad-products at a time.

Wish me luck for the rest of the year!

June Empties & Sale Shopping

I'm not gonna even start with the excuses for a blog break! ;) It's summer and I had a bit of a holiday. Now I'm back to work, but I'm sure you understand the summer in Finland is way too anyway to spend in front of a computer... (says the one who spend all last night watching movies!). I'll post up if I feel like it, but I promise I'll catch up with more regular blogging after summer :)

June was miserable regarding the empties. Only three, none of them from the Project Pan.

IMG_2698

Soap & Glory Flake Away Body Polish will get it's own review with a separate Soap & Glory-post. It will be a nice review, trust me :)

L'oreal Elvital Nutri-Gloss Hair Masque is (was) a HG-product for many of us. I have another jar stashed up, but I'm reluctant to open it up since I'm not gonna get these anywhere after that *sigh*

Lumene Sensitive Touch Gentle Cleansing Wipes I've been praising these before and will continue doing that. I was a bit lazy removing make-up during June, so I used these most of the time. Great travel companions for summer cottage.

So the post wouldn't be too short, I thought to show you some purchases I've made recently :) "Sale shopping" indeed, most of the product were full price even though I went to look up the sales...

IMG_2642

I've been after a sunscreen for face for a long time. During summer I mostly wear mineral makeup that has a sunscreen, but a girl still needs a sun lotion in case I would wander to a beach or something. Hawaian Tropic was cheap, SPF is high enough and it claims to be for sensitive skin. My skin is prone to breakouts anyway so the worst fear I have would be getting pimples from sun lotions (that's why I would never use a body lotion for face). I've been fairly satisfied to the Hawaian Tropic Sensitive Face Sun Lotion SPF 30 (oil free). I haven't used it that much, but whenever I have, it's done it's job well and no breakouts. Of course it leaves a bit of a shiny surface, but I'm yet to meet a sun lotion that doesn't.

Depend Nail Polish in 253 was in sale for 1,50€, and I regret for not buying another one. I really love this color since I'm having a neutral season with my nails. It's a lovely light taupe with a hint of purple, that dries to a matte finish.

Viva La Diva Purple Glitter Eyeliner Pencil was also in sale and I couldn't resist. There were other colors available also, but purple was the color I don't own as an eyeliner yet. I haven't actually used this at all, but I was impressed by the swatches I made with a tester. I was fairly convinced that with such a cheap brand the glitter would be few sad particles that don't really show up at all, but gladly I was wrong.

IMG_2733

I was still after a perfect nude nail polish, been for awhile. I was about to purchase such polish from Essie or OPI, but then while doing grocery shopping I laid my eye to the Rimmel 60 Seconds 500 Caramel Cupcake. I hate paying full price from drugstore polishes, but there I went. The Caramel Cupcake isn't the perfect nude for me, but it's damn close. I would prefer a slightly cooler tone, but I still love this. Especially for my toe nails! I really neglect my feet and toe nails and they aren't a pleasure for the eyes, but a nude polish makes them just a bit more... polished. It doesn't draw attention as a colorful polish would do, but really makes my feet look not as horrible.

Lumene Arctic Aqua Tinted Moisturizer SPF 6 was in sale since there is a new version out with a higher SPF of 15. I knew I wouldn't love this, but I bought it anyway, why!? It doesn't cover anything, like tinter moisturizer hardly ever do, and it leaves an extremely shiny finish and I just have to powder over it. I would rather go straight without makeup. But I think I will use this up anyway, under my mineral makeup.

And, since the Pieni Tuoksukauppa is closed for summer holiday, I stashed up a bottle of squalane.

IMG_2736

I've noticed blog posts about the MIYO-brand but didn't really pay that much attention. Until while I was in Seppälä I decided to swatch some OMG! Eyeshadows just for fun. I really loved the quality for the price so the next problem was which colors to pick... I went for 19 Glamazon and 31 Sting, I probably have colors close to these in my 88 palettes but these are just so soft!

Spring 2012 Favourites

IMG_2102

Here are some of my favourite products from last spring, among the ones I just used more often than others. During spring I was very much in to neutrals when it comes to makeup. Next post will be about some of my looks from this month, then you can see I've definitely tuned in to a summer mood now.

IMG_2110

Squalane should be no surprise, I've been using it instead of a regular moisturizer and it's nowhere near leaving my bathroom anymore.

Soap & Glory Girligo is a spray-on body moisturizer that I've seen comes handy during warmer months. The moisturizing effect isn't that impressive, but it smells divine and I've enjoyed using it to the body parts that don't need such intense moisturizing.

Goldwell Style Sign Unlimitor Spray Wax* got a post of its own last month.

Korres Wheat Face Soap will get a post of its own this month. I can say already it will be a rave review and the wheat soap has earned its place in my skincare regime.

IMG_2114

Lumene Illuminating and Smoothing Primer* was a pleasant surprise, also a post coming up about this one.

Bare Minerals Original Foundation SPF 15 Honestly, this could've been any other mineral makeup foundation I own. I love the original foundation by BM, but I don't think it's superior compared to other brands such as Everyday Minerals. What I do think is, that it's ridiculously overpriced compared to these other brands and that's why I wouldn't buy again, even though there's nothing wrong with it. There's also Bismuth Oxychloride in it, which I rather would not have even though my skin doesn't react to it yet (I've experienced some itching if my face gets sweaty while wearing the original mineral foundation, but don't know for certain it's the reason).

Anyway, after the weather got warmer I switched my liquid foundation to minerals and I always wonder why I even do liquid ones, minerals are so much better. I used this BM original foundation in fair through the spring, but now after some (self)tanning I've moved on to a bit darker shades I have from EDM.

IMG_2126

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Crystal Pink is from the Semi-Precious collection. I was originally after the shade Pearl, but they were already sold out even in Sweden where my boyfriend went to chase it (OK, it's possible he just went for a holiday and I made him an insane list of makeup I wanted him to hunt for me), so he came back with this. I can tell you I really was not disappointed! This is my absolute favourite product ever, that's why it possibly doesn't belong just to the spring favourites-post. It's simply the perfect all-in-one product when you only have time to apply one, instead of a illuminator, blush and bronzer.

Today happens to be a 3rd year anniversary for us (me and bf, not Crystal Pink). Last year I got a box full of hand picked nail polishes which was the most romantic thing ever (especially imaging him buying them), and this year we've decided to go all crazy with the romance thing. Meaning: buy a new, bigger freezer :D It's really a peacekeeper, my frozen berries and his french fries don't get along so well in the small freezer box we have at the moment. Back to the point:

IMG_2131

Urban Decay Naked palette is one of the all time favourites also, but this spring I used it more than ever.

Lumene Cream Eyeshadow in Nude Glow is a great option for the no-makeup look, when you just want the settle glow to look at least alive. I've seen these in sale boxes all over Finland at the moment, so go ahead and grab your own!

IMG_2154

Wet 'n' Wild Walking on Eggshells eyeshadow trio is one of the easiest palettes to grab along with the Naked-palette. I adore the eyelid-color, it's my to go-eyeshadow when I'm in a hurry, along with the browbone-shade for - well, browbone, and as a highlighter for inner corner of the eye. The crease color has been somewhat left out with me, I find it a bit... muddy.
IMG_2158

MAC Shroom is the ultimate browbone (and inner corner) shade, no explanations needed.

IMG_2168

Lumene Cranberry Kiss Lipliner in 9 Nougat I promise I will try and shut up about this already. But it's such a great lipliner for nude lipsticks. These are also all around the sale boxes so go and get your own! I actually bought a another for my stash :)

Eyeko London Lips in Soho I've raved about this one also a lot before. Extremely bold, pigmented shade which I've used almost every time for a night out. And a bargain!

May Empties

IMG_2472

Hello my lovely readers! I'm having the worst luck with blogging at the moment. The summer season is starting and it's really showing at work, and when I finally had enough energy to catch up with the blog... our internet got disconnected. It was friday evening so it ain't gonna be repaired until next week! At the moment I've connected my laptop to internet via my darling Samsung Galaxy but as you may guess, pages aren't exactly in a hurry to download. I still managed to take a deep breath and complete the May Empties post, so here we go and I'll be back as soon we get the problem fixed :)

IMG_2478
Coconut Oil

This one was bought from Pieni Tuoksukauppa, like pretty much all my oils. I always get crazy over there, buy too much and end up in a hurry using them up! This coconut oil was part of my evening skincare regime for over a month. I moistened my face with water and then removed my makeup with oil (basically lathered my face with some oil and wiped it off with a cotton pad). After that I used a face soap I'll be introducing this month also and used squalane as a moisturizer. A great combo! I don't know if I'll be buying more coconut oil any time soon, I love almond oil for my hair and as I have a huge bottle of it left, I might try that for my face next.

IMG_2485
Project Pan
Yves Rocher Gommage Végétal
Botanical Scrub Apricot

I believed I got this on a discount while buying other things, and paid only around 1€ for it. I have a love/hate-relationship with Yves Rocher, even though I don't even hate any of their products. They just disappoint me from time to time. This body scrub however has been the second best I've ever tried. I love scrubs and am quite picky with them. The grains must be very small (sort of like sand grains), I don't want them to melt too quickly (or at all) and I want my skin left feeling silky smooth after exfoliating even if I haven't shaved, lol. Most of the scrubs I've tried have the first problem, the grains are just too big and I don't feel them effective enough. The Yves Rocher Botanical Scrub is very close to perfect. It feels gentle yet effective, the grains are just the size I like them, it's easy to rub in and just basically gets the job well done.

One minus however is the scent. Don't get me wrong, it's nice: apricot and cinnamon. But it's just so CHRISTMAS! This really got me in the mood during winter but at summer, it just feels strange to use this. If they stock this next winter, I just might purchase again :) The regular price is 12,90€ but at the moment it's on -50% discount.

Oh, and did anyone got curious what's the NO. 1 scrub for me? I bought it from Anttila department store years ago and haven't seen it since. It was Mediterranean Spa Lemon & Orange Salt Cream (yes, I'm aware that it's a body butter in the photo, but it looks the same). You know I'm not much in to citrus scents but with this one I don't care, it's perfect. The grains are perfect and skin is left feel just absolutely fantastic. If anyone knows how to get my hands on this again, please let know!

IMG_2488
ACO Sense & Care
Sunkissed Body Lotion

And another one used up. I have to say, I've really started to get sensitive to the smell of this, before I couldn't smell the DHA. And now I've actually found another favourite for tanning, review coming up...

IMG_2491
Rexona Pure
With Natural Mineral
Anti-Perspirant Deo-Roll On 0% Alcohol

I really like this one. The scent is really fresh, it doesn't irritate and does its job. But who needs a 48h protection!?

IMG_2497
Project Pan
Lancôme Hydra Zen Neurocalm
Soothing Anti-Stress Moisturizing Cream

This is for all skin types, but is definitely too moisturizing for the oiliest skins. I got a sample of this years ago, fell in love and bought the full jar. In the end I kind of got sick of the scent, which is mild but just gets on my nerves eventually. I've used this as a night cream during winter and also if my skin has gotten irritated, it soothes redness really well. I'm still not buying again, it took me forever to even empty this jar! Not a bad cream at all, but not the best one for me.
